India Buildings
Liverpool

PROJECT OVERVIEW

BA Joinery were appointed as part of a four-year regeneration of Liverpool’s Grade-II listed India Buildings, bringing it back to its former glory. The works package on the project included:

Bespoke Reception Desk

Refurbished heritage doors and clerestory windows

New vanity units

The reception desk was a tricky one, as the finishes needed to match the existing period look and feel of the building, whilst maintaining budget. We achieved this by offering a wide variation of samples for the finishes from which the client could pick and choose.

The refurbished heritage doors had been removed and stored in racks by the previous contractor, so a full survey was carried out prior to us starting on site to identify all doors and opening. Likewise, the ironmongery was promptly removed and sent for refurbishment (a lengthy process) to allow us to get ahead of the programme and speed up the installation process.

The new vanity units had to be designed to tie in with the existing heritage finishes, so we built a mock-up unit for sign-off by Liverpool City Council.
